156 ~ 365: Bridge of Glass

At long last, my first visit to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma!  My favorite part was the Kids-Design-Glass exhibit.  Kids submit drawings and stories, the hot shop team selects one per month to replicate and invites the lucky kid to come watch a front row viewing of their design being executed.  Twice.  The museum keeps one and gives the other to the kid who designed it!

Everyone raves about the Bridge-of-Glass, and I was indeed impressed.  From the skylight photo at the top of this post, to the collection from the ‘wall’ below.  Looking forward to going back when I have a bit more time to spend.

I’m a huge fan of Chihuly’s works. Went to a fabulous showing at the art museum in Portland many years ago. A private collector augmented the display with large collection of private pieces. The magnitude was amazing.
